Baking soda also known as sodium bicarbonate is an effective way to leave skin looking and feeling soft and clean. It is natural, free of chemicals and has antibacterial properties that combat acne and dry skin. It also serves as an exfoliant to soothe and soften rough skin.

Baking soda will not relax your hair or loosen curls in any way...but it cleans it very well. Hair will still have the same texture, just a little easier to work with.

Because of its unique cleansing properties, baking soda can be used occasionally to ""clarify"" hair to eliminate buildup from commercial shampoos and conditioners.

Baking soda is a strong alkali with a pH of 9.0 on average. High-alkali products open up the cuticles of the hair and cause hair to absorb so much water that the shaft might weaken and or break. To counteract this, the treatment is best followed with an apple cider vinegar rinse to normalize the pH of the hair.
